Dr. Katherine G. Conner, M.D. grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago. She attended undergraduate school at the University of Iowa and received her medical degree from Rush Medical College. She completed her Internal Medicine residency and Allergy and Immunology fellowship at Rush University Medical Center.
During fellowship, Dr. Conner received extensive training in the treatment of allergic and immunologic diseases for both children and adults. Her training included time at Rush University as well as Stroger Hospital in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Dr. Conner is on staff at Resurrection Medical Center, Advocate Lutheran Hospital, and Advocate Sherman Hospital.
Dr. Conner has a young daughter and enjoys spending time with her family as well as travel, running, hiking, sailing, and being outdoors.
Dr. Drapkin, a native of Boston, MA, received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York. He then attended Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, where he earned his M.D. Dr. Drapkin then moved to Chicago, his wife’s home town, where he completed a three year residency in internal medicine and an additional two year fellowship in allergy and immunology at Rush University.
Dr. Drapkin is board certified in internal medicine as well as allergy and immunology and he has been seeing patients of all ages at Allergy Partners of Chicago (formerly Asthma and Allergy Associates) since 2004. He is on staff at multiple area hospitals where he teaches medical students and residents, and he is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, and he lives in Skokie, a suburb of Chicago, with his wife and four children.
Dr. Mona Hirani is board certified in allergy/ immunology and pediatric pulmonology. She completed her fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s hospital in Boston, before moving to Maryland where she practiced for 2 1/2 years.
She relocated to Chicago and has been in practice with Asthma and Allergy Associates (now Allergy Partners of Chicago) since 2003. Her interests include pediatric asthma, food and drug allergies and desensitization. She also enjoys seeing patients with eosinophilic disorders and immunodeficiencies.
In her personal time, Dr. Hirani enjoys reading, yoga, walking and other outdoor activities. She lives with her husband, Eric, and daughter, Mia, in Glenview, IL.
Rick Shapiro, a Chicago native, joined the practice in 2003 as a Physician Assistant. He was born in Park Ridge at Lutheran General Hospital where he is now on staff, and raised in the Northwest suburbs. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University, he completed his Physician Assistant Studies at Midwestern University in Downers Grove.
His interest in Allergy and Immunology stems from his own experiences as growing up with asthma and allergies as a child. His philosophy is to work with patients and their families in creating an effective and practical treatment regimen. He strongly believes that education and open communication between patients and providers leads to better health outcomes.
In his personal time, Rick enjoys golf, tennis, and spending time with his family. He lives in Grayslake with his wife and three children.
