Having grown up in Fayetteville, Dr. Freccia has always called North Carolina home. He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University. Without relinquishing his Blue Devil allegiance, he attended the University of North Carolina for medical school. He completed his internship and residency in general pediatrics at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), as well as his fellowship in adult and pediatric allergy/immunology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Freccia has earned a degree of Master of Business Administration from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
“After medical training, I decided to return to my hometown of Fayetteville to serve the community in providing allergy, asthma, and immunology care to adults and children. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and watching college and professional sports. We have a black Labrador retriever.”
As an allergist with her own share of allergies, I continue to be fascinated by the fields of allergy and immunology and am always eager to hear other people’s accounts of their allergic symptoms. I often find that my patients and I have had similar experiences, which assists me in educating them about their conditions.
My ultimate goal is to motivate patients to achieve better health and an improved quality of life. I have resided in the Chicago area for most of my life, but left briefly to attend Brown University in Providence, RI where I received an undergraduate degree in neuroscience.
I returned to Chicago for medical school and subsequent training in internal medicine and adult and pediatric allergy and immunology.
I relocated to North Carolina to join my husband, Dr. Colin Freccia, a native of Fayetteville who is also a physician with Allergy Partners. I enjoy all food-related activities, yoga, relaxing with a good book, and experiencing other cultures through travel.
“Allergy and Immunology has always fascinated me.”
Initially Dr. MacDowell wanted to build a career in academics and came from her home country of Brazil with that goal. She soon realized that she could make a difference treating patients out of the University setting as well.
“I truly enjoy the interaction with the patients, both children and adults.”
Asthma, Allergic Rhinitis and Food Allergy are her Special Interests.
“My philosophy is that educating patients about their condition empowers them to achieve better control and improve their quality of life. This is so important to me that on my free time I volunteer in the ‘Asthma Action Group’ who’s goal is to educate the Fayetteville Community about Asthma.”
