A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Dr. Cranford completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Mississippi in Oxford before attending medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center located in Jackson. After obtaining her medical degree in 2013, she then completed residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Internal Medicine. After residency, she returned to Mississippi to complete a fellowship in Allergy/Immunology at UMMC.
Dr. Cranford is thrilled to have the opportunity to move back to North Carolina for practice. As an allergy sufferer herself, she understands the impact that untreated or under-treated allergic conditions can have on a patient’s quality of life and health as a whole. Her particular interests include environmental allergies, food allergies, and the impact of other medical conditions on asthma control. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two young sons.
I initially moved to North Carolina to attend medical school at The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. After completing my allergy training at the University of Wisconsin and practicing back in my home state of Pennsylvania for 5 years, my family and I were excited to move back to North Carolina in 2009.
My interest in treating allergies and asthma stems from my personal experience as a patient. I have experienced firsthand the great improvement in quality of life patients have with proper treatment of their allergies and asthma. I believe that patient education and involving patients in making decisions are key components of medical care. By listening to patients and families, I work with them to develop an individualized treatment plan.
I care for patients of all ages for a range of allergic diseases and have particular interest in asthma, allergies, sinusitis and bee sting allergy. Outside of work, I enjoy mountain biking and hiking with my wife, who is a local family doctor, and our 3 children.
Dr. Elise Coulson graduated magna cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University and then obtained a doctorate in physical therapy from Emory University. She worked for five years as a physical therapist in Atlanta, GA before attending medical school at Morehouse School of Medicine where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. After completing residency at Harvard’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Internal Medicine she went on to pursue subspecialty training in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of Michigan. She has given regional and national presentations and published allergy related articles on a variety of topics.
Dr. Coulson moved to Asheville to be closer to family and enjoy the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Before becoming an allergist her experience as a physical therapist honed her ability to treat patients, from a person and family centered perspective. She has a passion for treating both children and adults with environmental, food, and stinging insect allergies, as well as asthma and eczema. After seeing the tremendous toll that allergies and asthma have on the everyday lives of her patients, it is extremely rewarding for her to be able to provide relief from these chronic conditions.
Outside of work Dr. Coulson enjoys crafting, hiking, horseback riding, and most especially family time with her husband and two young sons.

Dr. Todd Cross received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson. He then obtained his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, where he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Cross then became board certified in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine after finishing his Fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. With an interest in asthma, lung disease and COPD, Dr. Cross decided to return and complete Fellowship in Allergy and Immunology from The Medical College of Georgia.
Dr. Elliston founded Regional Allergy & Asthma Consultants in Asheville and Hendersonville. He completed his Residency and Fellowship in Allergy & Immunology at Wake Forest University.
He has three children, one in Pediatrics, one in Obstetrics – Gynecology, and one practicing as a clinical psychologist here in Asheville.
Dr. Elliston enjoys volunteering with the United Way. His other interests include bird watching, Frisbee, hiking, reading historical fiction and writing poetry.
My name is Hal Jenkins, an Allergist/ Immunologist treating families in the Western North Carolina region. Originally planning to be a Pediatrician, I became passionate about allergies and asthma during my residency, recognizing the significant increases in quality of life for children and adults who receive specialized care to manage their symptoms.
While allergies and asthma can be debilitating for patients and worrisome for families, the rewards of careful medical management and treatment are extremely positive for all involved.
I completed, my Allergy & Immunology fellowship at National Jewish Medical Center, in Denver, Colorado. Those extra years of training allowed me to learn from global experts in our subspecialty and furthered my passion to provide the most optimal care for those children who develop allergies, asthma, and eczema, as well as, for the significant number of adults who continue to suffer with those same conditions. My approach involves spending time with families to learn about the individual problems, and then to educate them. This teamwork allows us to maximize outcomes while minimizing worries associated with the treatments and the diseases themselves.
On a more personal note, I am equally committed to spending time with my wife, Merry, and our two children, Peyton and Samuel. We enjoy traveling and many outdoor activities in our beautiful part of the world. In the end, I want the same for my patients, to overcome the limitations brought on by these conditions and to be able to live their life to the fullest.
Born and raised outside of Baltimore, I have called North Carolina home since completing medical school. After my pediatrics training at Duke, I practiced general pediatrics for three years in Hendersonville. During this time, I realized that my passion lies in the treatment of allergies and asthma. After a brief sojourn in Augusta, Georgia for allergy and immunology training, my family and I returned to Western North Carolina and I joined Allergy Partners.
Since then, my interest in allergy and asthma care has continued to grow. From a scientific standpoint, the field is ever changing and intellectually rewarding. From a personal standpoint, I find working with patients and families both satisfying and fun.
I strive to provide each patient with a comprehensive and personalized evaluation and treatment plan that not only treats his or her condition but fits with his or her lifestyle. I firmly believe that we should work together to control allergic diseases and asthma and not let them control you.
I have particular interest in working with patients, both adult and pediatric, suffering from allergies, asthma, eczema, and chronic sinusitis. Dr. Van Wye is a native of Kansas, and received his undergraduate degree from Harvard, and his medical degree from Stanford. He spent an additional five years at Stanford for his residency and fellowship in allergy and immunology.
He is certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy Asthma and Immunology. He is on the medical staff of Missions Hospitals in Asheville, and Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville.
In 1991, he moved to Asheville from Stanford with his wife, Dr. Hope Mustoe, a pediatrician. They have two children, Ian, born in 1994, and Eliza, born in 1997.

Dr. Jordan Smallwood is originally from Eastern Kentucky. He earned his undergraduate degree from Centre College before obtaining his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He completed his pediatrics residency in Louisville, Kentucky before moving out of state to pursue his fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
Dr. Smallwood has spent the past 9 years in Orlando Florida with Nemours Children’s Health where he served as the Chief of his division since 2015. This opportunity allowed him to see the practice of Allergy-Immunology from both the medical and business side and has helped him be better able to meet all of his patients needs. He is excited to move closer to home and back to the mountains to get closer to both sides of his family, especially after the birth of his son. One of his favorite parts of being an Allergist-Immunologist is having the opportunity to teach his patients about their diagnosis. He emphasizes the importance of understanding what is happening to your body, rather than solely recommending treatment. In his spare time, Dr. Smallwood enjoys spending time with his family, playing music, being outdoors, and is active in his church.
Benjamin “Luke” Clubb, MSPA, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant that attended undergraduate school at Western Carolina University before moving to Savannah, Georgia to complete his Physician Assistant training. As a PA he is licensed to practice medicine in collaboration with a team of physicians to facilitate thorough care for patients by eliciting detailed histories, performing comprehensive examinations, developing management/treatment plans, and providing patient education.
Originally a native of Western North Carolina, he is excited to have the opportunity to be back and practice as part of the Allergy Partners of WNC team. His interest in treating allergies and asthma stems from his training, where he had the rewarding opportunity to experience the improvement in the quality of life that allergy and asthma patients can achieve with proper treatment and education. Originally a Tennessee native, Haley Ward is a board-certified physician assistant based in Asheville, North Carolina. As a lifelong sufferer of allergy symptoms, Haley has a personal appreciation for the impact and importance of successful allergy and asthma treatment. She completed a Bachelor of Science program in Biology at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2017 she earned a Master of Science degree from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. During her undergraduate and graduate studies, she cultivated an interest in the field of allergy and immunology through coursework and academic research. She completed a research fellowship at Vanderbilt University through the National Science Foundation where she studied the malaria mosquito.
Haley has four years of experience as a physician assistant in interventional pain management. She joined Allergy Partners of Western North Carolina in 2022 and practices at multiple office locations in the region. She strives to provide passionate evidence-based care to patients of all ages. In her spare time, Haley enjoys hiking, camping, and exploring the outdoors with her husband and labradoodle.
Lindsey Williford FNP-BC joined Allergy Partners in 2018. Lindsey moved to Asheville in 2017 from Nashville, TN but grew up in Eastern North Carolina. She graduated from East Carolina University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and the University of Pennsylvania in 2011 with a Master’s in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner. She enjoys hiking, reading, all things fitness/health promotion, and spending time with her family.
