Dr. Lachara Livingston is a native of the Florida panhandle. She completed her undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Cell Science at the University of Florida in Gainesville. After matriculation, she chose to stay there to complete medical school, and she subsequently relocated to Tampa, FL for Internal Medicine training at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. After completing the three years of internal medicine training, she was selected to serve an additional year as Chief Resident at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital.
An Allergy & Immunology fellowship finally brought her to Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, where she became experienced in seeing patients with varying allergic and immunologic conditions. She went on to practice in both Maryland and the District of Columbia for almost three years before deciding to return to Richmond to put down roots.
Dr. Livingston enjoys seeing both adult and pediatric patients with asthma, eczema, food allergies, allergic rhinitis, and other allergy-related conditions. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, traveling when she can, and attempting to be a foodie.
Dr. Turner grew up on Long Island, but moved to Richmond in 1990. Since then, her family has enjoyed the warmth and friendliness of their community. She and her husband are active in their church, and delight in spending time with friends, their two grown children, and of course, their poodle.
“I love reading books, particularly true tales of how ordinary people have done extraordinary things, dabble in the occasional needlepoint or knitting project and SCUBA dive on vacations.”
In her twenty years as a specialist in allergy and immunology in the Richmond area, Dr. Turner has sought to work with and be attentive to each patient’s needs.
“I believe that treatment for allergic conditions is a partnership between the doctor and the patient and that both must work together to achieve a good treatment outcome. Figuring out the source of each person’s medical troubles and, more importantly, working on an appropriate plan of action with the patient, is the reason I became a doctor.”
Her specialties are childhood and adult asthma, nasal and sinus disease, hives, eczema, food allergy, and asthma during pregnancy. She makes an effort to stay abreast of the latest research in each of these areas.
