After graduating from the University of Wisconsin- Madison with a degree in mechanical engineering, Dr. McKnight took a position as an engineer with Honda of America Manufacturing, designing and implementing high speed robotic equipment to assemble automobile and motorcycle engines. After working for 3 years, he eventually returned to graduate school at the University of Arizona to pursue further graduate education in engineering before making the career change to medicine. His residency in pediatrics was completed in Las Vegas, NV and he and his wife developed close friends while living in Henderson, Nevada.
Upon completion of his fellowship training in Allergy/Immunology in Tampa, FL, he and his family returned to Henderson where he started his solo allergy practice in 2004.
“My goal has been to provide the highest quality specialty care while also using the latest technology and resources available.”
Dr. McKnight is one of the early pioneers in electronic medical records, after successfully implementing GE Centricity in his start-up practice in 2004 and creating customized allergy forms for the system.
He merged his solo practice with Allergy Partners in January 2012, recognizing the significant benefits of joining the largest single specialty practice of allergy/immunology in the United States.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. McKnight and his wife enjoy many activities with their 3 young boys, including skiing, wake boarding, scuba diving, sailing, cycling, swimming, and traveling to exotic locations.
Dr. Miyake was born and raised in the Treasure Valley in southwestern Idaho. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Idaho State University, he worked as a food microbiologist and environmental chemist for Analytical Laboratories, Inc. in Boise, Idaho for two years prior to starting medical school. He completed his medical degree at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and then moved to Rochester, New York, where he completed his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center. After an additional year serving as a Chief Resident in the Department of Medicine, he then completed a 3-year fellowship program in Allergy and Immunology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Miyake is certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
The following 3 years were spent at Midwest Allergy and Asthma Clinics, P.C. in Omaha, Nebraska, where he had the privilege of taking care of patients of all ages. In August 2014, Dr. Miyake joined Dr. McKnight at Allergy Partners of Nevada where he looks forward to continuing the tradition of providing high quality medical care to both children and adults.
Outside of work, Dr. Miyake loves spending time with his wife and his three children. He enjoys attending school activities and experiencing the great climate of the southwest. He is also committed to a lifestyle of regular exercise and fitness, hoping to instill this passion to those around him.
