Dr. Klaiber is a double board-certified physician who grew up in a small town about 30 miles north of New Haven Connecticut. He was first drawn to the study of Allergy and Immunology as an undergraduate student.
“I was intrigued by the fact that we all possess this immensely complex network of cells constantly working behind the scenes to stave off infection.”
Dr. Klaiber earned his M.D. from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed his pediatric post-graduate residency training at VCU Medical Center in Richmond. He remained at VCU to complete his Allergy Immunology fellowship. He enjoys treating both Pediatric and Adult Allergy and Immunology patients. Dr. Klaiber also has experience using oral immunotherapy (OIT) to treat food allergies.
“Over the course of my fellowship I was fortunate to have several excellent clinical mentors. Working closely with these individuals allowed me to gain firsthand experience both with rare disorders such as Mastocytosis and HAE, in addition to providing regular exposure to more common diseases, like eczema, food allergy, asthma, allergic rhinitis, CVID and chronic hives.”
Dr. Dawson completed her fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Allergy and Immunology. While training at the University of South Florida-Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, she had the honor of serving as Chief-Fellow. Dr. Dawson has participated in clinical research, published in the Frontiers of Immunology, and presented her work at national conferences including the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and Clinical Immunology Society.
While her interest in the field of Allergy and Immunology was sparked by the complexity of the immune system, what ultimately led Dr. Dawson to pursue the field is the ability to provide care to patients of all ages with a wide variety of allergic/immunologic diseases.
Dr. Dawson has managed patients with rare and complex immunodeficiencies and autoimmune conditions, in addition to more common allergic disorders, such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, eczema, and food allergy. Her areas of clinical interest include food allergy, oral immunotherapy, drug allergy, severe eczema, chronic hives, and primary immunodeficiency.
Dr. Dawson’s approach to patient care is centered on evidence-based medicine and shared decision making. “I take the time to listen to my patients and their concerns. I want them to understand their medical diagnosis and treatment options. Together we can then establish a treatment plan that will be most effective for them.”
Her personal interests include gardening, photography, and yoga. In her spare time, she enjoys staying active and engaging in outdoor activities such as hiking and running with her husband.

Dr. Mozena moved to Fredericksburg in 2007 after finishing five years of post-medical school training at the University of Virgina. Although originally from Iowa, the temperate weather, proximity to mountains/beach and friendly people kept his family in Virginia.
“I went into the field of Allergy/Immunology as I was always fascinated with the immune system.”
“Disturbances in the delicate balance between our immune system and the environment we live in can result in a variety of medical conditions that are both intellectually challenging and rewarding to take care of. “
The ability to evaluate and treat patients of all ages further attracted him to the field of Allergy/Immunology.
In his spare time Dr. Mozena enjoys spending time with his family outdoors playing soccer, hiking and, traveling.
Dr. Posthumus and his wife are originally from northern New Jersey and moved to Virginia in 2007, and recently welcomed a baby girl into their family. Their unusual last name is common in the Netherlands, and his ancestors like many other Dutch immigrants, originally settled in the Hudson River Valley.
“My passion for allergy and immunology began during my medical training as I grappled with my usual symptoms of itchy, watery eyes and severe nasal congestion keeping me from enjoying the outdoors.” Also afflicted with asthma since an early age, his firsthand experiences has helped to augment his medical education allowing him to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to people who suffer from similar ailments.
“Communication is essential in determining an individualized treatment plan, and I pride myself on being a good listener.” Dr. Posthumus is able to provide superior allergy and immunology care by understanding his patients’ concerns and using that information to focus testing and implement the most effective treatment plan aimed at relieving symptoms.
Since coming to Virginia for his medical training, he and his wife decided to settle in the Commonwealth. Fredericksburg’s proximity to the beaches, mountains, and numerous metropolitan regions makes it an ideal location for enthusiasts of the outdoors, culture, and history.
“As a member of the community, I promise to commit myself to allow my patients to enjoy everything this great state has to offer.”
I moved back to Fredericksburg after receiving my master’s degree in nursing from the Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Though born in Ohio, I grew up in this beautiful, history-rich area. My husband and I are now raising our two children here where we enjoy spending our time outdoors, hiking, running, trail-walking and exploring.
As a family nurse practitioner, I have provided primary care to patients of all ages in this area since 2003. I pride myself on being an approachable and compassionate provider, and I genuinely take pleasure in getting to know my patients in order to provide the most thorough care.
