Letters like this are difficult to write for they are letters of farewell and thanks too for allowing me to be part of your life and/or your child’s life. On June 30th, 2022, after 37 years in allergy/clinical immunology practice, I have decided to put a cap on that allergy shot syringe and seal off the skin test trays. It has been a most rewarding career. I have been fortunate to have great mentors, stimulating colleagues, fascinating projects, and great patients. I have always felt that patients are our best teachers. They help stimulate investigation into state-of-the-art care with their questions and concerns. They also stimulate compassion in us. I could not have asked for a better life-experience. Thank you for a fulfilling career that has included being an allergist in an HMO, the academic world, and in private practice.
Mitchell W. Smith, D.O. and Laura Sertich, FNP-C will continue to offer the same high-quality care you have come to know and trust from me. Dr. Smith is board-certified in Adult and Pediatric Allergy and Immunology. Laura brings experience caring for acute and chronic conditions to patients of all ages.
As I transition to retirement, our summer patient care and allergy injection hours will be temporarily changed. We will post our updated summer hours on our website within the next several weeks and place signs in our office advising you of the upcoming temporary schedule changes.
Your medical records will automatically remain with Allergy Partners and we will strive to make this transition as seamless as possible. If you should have any comments, questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our office at (812) 378-3131.
It has been a joy, honor and privilege caring for you and your family over the years. I wish you all the best.
