“I’ve been a southerner, roaming the southeast all of my life.”
Dr. Lucas was born, raised and completed undergraduate and graduate school in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He completed his medical school at East Carolina University, in Greenville, NC, and 3 year residency at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, and 2 year allergy, asthma, and immunology training at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He worked briefly on faculty at the University of Virginia, but was ready to get back to the Tar Heel state closer to his family and the ocean.
Dr. Lucas’ specialty of allergy provides him the opportunity to see children and adults with a variety of skin, lung and sinus conditions. The specialty focuses on identifying external substances that when eliminated from a patient’s life can result in significant improvement in the patient’s quality of life.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to work here in Wilmington with Drs Yip and Myers, they have become like family to me.”
In his spare time he enjoys anything active and outdoors (running, biking, snowboarding, surfing, fishing, boating, camping), cooking, music, guitar, reading, yoga, and visiting his family in Chapel Hill
Dr. Myers has been practicing Allergy/Immunology in the Wilmington area since 1990. He graduated magna cum laude from Wake Forest University and attended Medical School in Virginia.
“I thoroughly enjoy my career choice of Allergy/Immunology, being able to treat both children and adults. My ultimate goal as an Allergist is to improve a patient’s quality of life, give them a better understanding of their disease, and be “allergy free”.”
His wife and two children are very happy to be able to live along the North Carolina coast, with the beautiful weather and access to the beach community. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, going camping with his son in Boy Scouts and playing competitive tennis.
Dr. Yip has been working with Allergy Partners for the past 15 years. It has been quite an experience for him seeing both children and adults for their allergy and asthma problems. In the time that he has worked here he has been able to see his patients grow up and have their own children.
“I would have never expected to be where I am today if not for good fortune and pure luck.”
Growing up in the north (New York City) as well as going to school and completing training in Boston and Philadelphia, Dr. Yip never thought of going further south than Washington, DC. However when it came to finding a job, he had a suggestion from a friend that he should interview down in Wilmington (NC not Delaware).
Knowing nothing about Wilmington, he and his wife came down to interview and explore the city. Traveling from cold and windy in Philadelphia to warm and sunny in Wilmington made our decision easy.
“We never looked back (north). I have enjoyed golfing, tennis and the warm and welcoming south with my wife and two sons, who were both born here in Wilmington.”
