Robert Brooks, MD

Dr. Robert Brooks is a board-certified allergist/immunologist based out of Newport News.

He was born and raised in Western Maryland, and attended Haverford College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in biology. Subsequently, he joined the United States Air Force, during which time he received his M.D. from the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine, completed a Pediatrics residency at Walter Reed, and served as a fellow in Allergy/Immunology at Wilford Hall.

After living/working in six states and the District of Columbia, Dr. Brooks can confidently state that the Hampton Roads area has been the most triggering environment for his own seasonal allergies. He is excited to spend his days helping people keep their allergic symptoms under control while living in this beautiful region. He is double-boarded in Pediatrics, though he is trained to care for allergy patients of all ages, and he has a personal understanding of how comprehensive allergy care may be complicated for the military families who are the backbone of Hampton Roads.

Dr. Brooks is very happily married; in his free time, he likes to hike, plan parties, and travel near and far, but most of all he enjoys lounging at home with his spouse, their dogs, and any visiting friends and family.

Sean Gallagher, MD

Dr. Gallagher’s clinical interests include food allergy, allergic rhinitis, asthma, and eczema, and he has experience treating a wide range of allergic and immunologic conditions in children and adults. Dr. Gallagher is board certified in Allergy and Immunology.

As someone who lives with his own food allergies, he understands deeply the impact these conditions can have on his patients’ lives. He is passionate about combining his personal
experience with cutting-edge medical care to provide his patients with personalized and effective care plans.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, hiking, trips to the beach, and skiing.

Mackenzie Hines, MD

Dr. Hines grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and has always had a strong connection to her home state. She attended Iowa State University for her undergraduate studies before returning closer to home to complete medical school, residency, and fellowship training at the University of Iowa. Dr. Hines is a board-certified allergist.

Her clinical interests include food allergies, asthma, eczema, hives, drug allergies, environmental allergies and helping patients find long-term relief through allergen immunotherapy. Dr. Hines cares for both children and adults.  She is passionate about providing patient-centered care and is excited to continue serving individuals and families across Iowa.

Over the years, Dr. Hines and her family have grown to love the Iowa City/Coralville area and surrounding communities. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and their dog. Together, they can often be found outdoors on family walks and bike rides or exploring local coffee shops in search of the best cup in town.

Andrew Van Hersh, DO

Dr. Van Hersh, a native of Memphis, TN, completed his undergraduate degree at The University of Memphis before completing his medical school at William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg, MS. He then completed his pediatric residency at the University of Louisville. He completed his fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Van Hersh is a board-certified allergist.

It was during this time he honed his skills in treating the spectrum of allergic and immunologic conditions in both kids and adults. These include food allergies, eczema, allergic rhinitis, asthma, drug allergies, hives, and immunodeficiencies. He enjoys listening to his patients to make an appropriate diagnosis and working with them to develop a treatment plan that best fits their needs. Dr. Van Hersh values being able to educate his patients on their conditions and seeing the improvement in quality of life the appropriate treatment can make.

In his free time, Dr. Van Hersh enjoys running, hiking, cooking, and traveling with his wife.
