Dr. Lane is a native of Graham, North Carolina. He earned his undergraduate degree with honors from Duke University in 2000 and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of North Carolina in 2004.

After medical school, he completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville. He received training in pediatric and adult allergy, asthma and immunology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he served as Chief Fellow during his final year of fellowship. He is a member in the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology as well as the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

Dr. Lane is also a volunteer with the Free Clinic of Central Virginia.
